SPATIAL DESIGN
Plattform Stad is an innovation platform with the goal that 30% of all food consumed in Malmö should be produced within the city within a decade. To showcase this, the exhibition "The Independent Burger" was created.
Through the exhibition, you can see, in various scenes displayed on podiums, how we can create the burger of the future. Demonstrating how an otherwise unsustainable dish can be made more sustainable through local initiatives.
Client | Malmö Stad and Innovation Skåne.
Team | Andreea Blaga, Ana Stanišić, Dan Henriksson Storm, Ellinore Funck, Fredrik Elmegren, Johan Frössen, Kristoffer Lundholm, Mikael Arman, Nanna Bergh, Tove Blomgren, Tuva Larsson.
My role | In this project, I worked on the concept development of the different scenes on the podiums, collaborating with the team to find fun and enticing ways to tell the story. Later, I built and planned the various scenes on the podiums.
Awards | Silver, Svenska Designpriset 2024 in the NGO/CSR/Goodwill category.
The Bun - Yttre och Inre Ringvägen
In this scene, we look at climate-resilient crops that could be grown on Malmö's outskirts. Enabling healthy soil that retains water, resists drought, stores carbon, helps fight climate change, and produces nutritious food.
We focused on creating small, engaging scenes within the larger setup to spark people's interest and encourage them to explore future food system.
The Veggies - Fosie
In the food city, today's waste becomes tomorrow's value. Rooftops, garages, and industrial spaces are transformed into year-round indoor farms, and even densely built urban areas support the city's food production.
We used various methods to bring the scenes to life, such as creating signs for fictional businesses. For example, a padel center that is transformed into a salad center.
The Veggies - Rosengård
Many cities feel anonymous, with few shared connections. But in Malmö's food city, neighborhoods like Rosengård thrive with community gardens and farms, bringing people and food closer together.
The Patty - Södra Innerstaden
As the Earth's population grows, we can't sustain current meat consumption. In the future food city, new technologies produce nutritious foods like myco-proteins from mushrooms, meat from legumes and yeast, fish from seaweed, and cheese from organic oats.
The Cheese - Nyhamnen
In Malmö's future food city, technology drives urban food production. Plant-based proteins, algae, mushroom products, and dairy-free cheese are created using ancient new fermentation. Food enthusiasts and scientists collaborate in lab-like breweries to craft sustainable, locally sourced foods.
